Poetry is storytelling in its purest form and has always been a part of my life though I seem to write it spasmodically in groups or cycles and at infrequent intervals. Celtic/Viking war poems (of which a collection " Warrior Memories " is available at lulu.com), western poems, love poems, humorous haiku and other poem types all happen from somewhere deeply felt. I hope you enjoy those who show up here.....

'Mongers

Circle Unbroken

Daughter

'Mongers

by Teel James Glenn

Why would you call for the drums of war

When your arm is to weak to hold steal,

Why would you send others sons to go die

As if to their mothers'

Their deaths were not real.

Are your plots and your plans

That all consuming,

Your conspiracies better than love

Are your yachts that you buy

'cause some underlings die

better fitted

'cause they were christened in blood?

Once the warrior made the   decisions,

Once the fighters determined the course

And a man who had something to argue

Would leap on the back of a horse--

So YOU in your towers of ivory,

Make note of the salient fact

'twas no castle such men couldn't tackle

So speak true or 'asure guard your back!

Circle Unbroken

Teel James Glenn

Winter of Wisdom

Summer of pain

Fall of our hopes

'till spring comes again,

life is a cycle

and death is a part

never an ending

but that there's a start.

Life is a circle

Never an end

Living and loving

The foe and the friend

Hope springs eternal

But dispair's always near

Hold on to all love

Throw out the fear

Daughter

By Teel James Glenn

The shears of fate

My thread have cut,

The cord is severed through,

But purpose keeps me on the earth

I stay here now for you

No obligation more sa'cred,

No vow of greater weight

Could take me from my loving child

Though all creation wait--

An d I a shadow of my past

A phantom of my joy--

Deserted by my partner,

As gods discard a toy,

Must find within me

Odin's mind and Balders stalwart heart

To give you daughter a rainbow bridge

And a hero's running start.
